Science Simulations
One powerful tool for student engagement and learning is a simulation. Simulations can be effectively used in the classroom with such research proven instructional strategies as providing feedback, nonlinguistic representation, cooperative learning, homework and practice, and generating and testing hypotheses. Learningscience.org is a web site that finds the best science simulations, interactives and resources and uses the National Science Education Standards to frame the content.
When you arrive at the site, there are several science areas from which to choose:

Choosing any of the areas leads to page where you can select standards for Grades K-4, Grades 5-8, and Grades 9-12.

After selecting one of the standards, you can then review a number of recommended learning tools organized on the page. There is even an option to “Tell a friend” at the bottom of the page.

This is a great resource to share with colleagues!
