Firefox: Send Link…
I just upgraded to Firefox 3 and have been pleased with the browser so far. But there has been one thing that really bothered me – the Send Link… command didn’t work!
Since I share a lot of web resources with others, the ability to quickly send a web site is essential. Fortunately, I found a post by Mark Russell on a Firefox Google Group with directions for fixing this problem:
- In Firefox, type “about:config” in the address bar.
- If you see a message about voiding your warranty, click the “I’ll be careful, I promise” button.“
- A page will appear with a long list of items. Ignore them. Just look for the Filter box near the top of the page.
- In the Filter box, search for “network.protocol-handler.external.mailto” (without the quotes)
- If the value is “false”, double-click it change the value to “true”.
- Open a new browser window, navigate to a web site, and test the command. File > Send Link…
- You should be able to e-mail web sites / links from Firefox again. YEAH!
