Faster Downloads with FlashGot

I frequently scour the ‘Net for resources that I can use or share with other teachers, such as lesson plans, tutorials, instructional examples, etc. Recently, I was on the web trolling for more good stuff when I arrived at a page with lots of great documents in pdf format. I located the first document I wanted to download started to save the file. When that one was done, I moved on to the next, and by the time I got to the third document I said to myself, “What am I doing saving all these files one by one?! This is why I downloaded FlashGot!”

FlashGot is a free Firefox extension that is designed handle both single and massive downloads from a web page / site. With this add-on you can download one link, selected links or all the links of a page together at the maximum speed with a single click. No more do you have to download files one at a time, or wait for one to finish downloading before moving to the next, or worrying that you may accidentally close your browser or get disconnected before the download is complete.

To get this great tool…

  1. Go here to download the add-on.
  2. Click on the Install Now button
  3. Restart Firefox for the add-on to activate.

Here is a simple example of how it can be used. After installing the add-on, go to this site where you will find a lot of Language Arts lesson plans.

  1. Click on the FlashGot icon in your tool bar.
  2. Select a location on your computer to place all the downloaded files and click on the Choose button.
  3. Navigate to the location of the downloads and review the files!

It literally took two seconds to download over 40 pdfs from that web page. This is absolutely one of the best add-ons that I have installed for its practical, time-saving features!

FlashGot is Free Software (GPL). If you find it useful, please support its development.
